This week we ultrasounded our two F2 proven ewes and our three F3 maiden ewes. All of our girls are pregnant via Lap AI! We're "expecting" at least three (possibly four) F3 lambs and at least five F4 lambs. If you've previously reached out to us with interest in acquiring one or more of our March 2024 spring lambs, or have an interest in purchasing one or more of our proven F2 ewes post-weaning, please reach out and reconfirm your interest. We don't require deposits until the lambs are born and will be retaining any F4 ewes. If you're not breeding-up or planning to, a wether (or two!) is a wonderful and more affordable addition to a farm. Personally, we find them even sweeter and more social than the ewe lambs -- so sweet that we retained one of 2023's F3 ram lambs ourselves just for fun. All of our boys will be wethered before leaving our farm. Our flock is registered with the Valais Blacknose Sheep Society (VBSS) and a couple of them are dual registered with the Valais Blacknose International Sheep Breeders Association and Registry (VBISBAR).
References to buyers of our lambs and proven ewes are available. We know how important it is to have a mentor if you're new to sheep or to breeding up. We not only promise to stand by our lambs, but to stand by you as well. It takes a village to raise Valais here in the USA -- it's a different world for the breed than the alps of Switzerland and we're all learning the best practices for breeding healthy and gentically diverse flocks.
